PRC currently does not have any job openings.


General Information

  • PRC only accepts students for internship positions. 

  • PRC prefers interns who are able to commit to at least 20 hours per week for at least 6 weeks in our San Diego office.  We accept remote interns on a case-by-case basis only if there is an appropriate project available.
  • PRC is unable to provide paid internships or stipends in most situations.  We are able to work with students who have work study grants and pro bono or volunteer hour requirements.

  • PRC cannot sponsor work visas at this time.

Legal Interns


Please note that PRC does not litigate or provide legal advice to individuals who contact us.  Legal Interns roles will vary depending on current PRC priorities, but an intern can expect to do any of the following:

  • research and write memos;

  • provide legislative analysis;
  • draft regulatory comments;
  • draft educational materials for PRC's website;
  • provide case law analysis;
  • create state law guides;
  • help draft testimony and presentations for staff;
  • respond to and research inquiries we receive from individual consumers; and
  • help staff plan privacy law conferences and meetings.


Law students of all levels with strong research and writing skills are encouraged to apply for a legal internship at PRC.  Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated deep interest in data privacy issues and consumer education, and we prefer candidates who understand emerging technologies and the relevant public policy issues surrounding them.  The following coursework is preferred but not required: Administrative Law, Privacy Law.

Consumer Education Interns


The Consumer Education Intern role will vary depending on current organizational priorities, but an intern can expect to do any of the following:

  • assist the Consumer Education & Administrative Coordinator with managing complaints and answering inquiries through PRC's online question and complaint center;
  • read and research to find answers to consumer questions;
  • identify valuable complaints and flag them for staff;
  • assist with building social media presence;
  • interact with consumers over the phone; and
  • monitor consumer-privacy-related news stories and provide overviews to staff.

Interns will gain firsthand experience at a nonprofit and should expect the following outcomes:

  • gain knowledge of the major privacy issues facing American consumers;
  • improve writing, research, and critical thinking skills; and
  • build basic consumer relations and related interpersonal communications skills.


Undergraduate and graduate students of all levels are encouraged to apply.  Ideal candidates will have an interest in data privacy, consumer protection, consumer education, and nonprofits. Excellent writing and research skills are required.
