UMASS Memorial Medical Center (UMMMC)

UMass Memorial Medical Center informed patients of a data breach that occurred when a former employee stole personal information from the medical centers files. The information stolen included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and addresses. The former employee had access to this information from May 6, 2002 to March 4, 2014. Investigators believe that this individual stole the information in order to open credit card and cell phone accounts.Update (1/14/2016): Per HHS the total breach number increased to 14,100 individuals vs. the original 2,300 reported.
