An estimated 1,093 companies and government agencies were breached, exposing everything from passwords to Social Security numbers. As we enter 2017, data privacy begins to play a major role in building trust between businesses and consumers. Data security policies are crucial to companies who value the protection of their data and the privacy of their clients' information. By safeguarding this data, companies can preserve the trust of clients and employees, and protect one of their most integral assets.
Every January we celebrate Data Privacy Day as a day of awareness about the importance of respecting privacy, safeguarding data, and enabling trust. In honor of Data Privacy Day 2017, Privacy Rights Clearinghouse will be co-hosting an event in San Diego on Friday, January 27th with fellow privacy and security experts from the local community.
You're invited to join notable figures in the privacy and security world as they discuss some of the most critical issues facing consumers and businesses in 2017. Panelists are PRC’s Executive Director Beth Givens, Andrew Serwin (Partner at Morrison & Foerster LLP), and Chad Nelley (EVP of ESET North America). The panel discussion will be moderated by Brad Lunn of Securing Our eCity Foundation.
The event begins with breakfast and networking opportunities. Following brief opening remarks, the panel will discuss trends in data privacy and security, including company best practices to protect clients, employees, and consumers.
